This week my school joined several other schools in the annual IDSA student show. It was our second year showing and my first. I showed a jewelry project I've been working on.
The piece featured a cast silver medallion and a hand tooled leather strap. This was several firsts for me. I had never worked with leather before, or jewelry, or shown my pieces in a public place. I feel the event went well and my piece in particular came out excellently.
The inspiration for this piece was a cursed choker from my favorite book, The Deed of Paksenarrion, by Elizabeth Moon. This was designed to be a more artistic and wearable rendition of the source material, considering the choker is described in the book as a thick metal collar with the web insignia.
